What is the Deep Research Connection?
The Deep Research connection provides advanced research capabilities powered by Google Gemini AI. When tasks require thorough investigation, comprehensive analysis, or in-depth information gathering, Deep Research conducts autonomous research and delivers detailed findings as markdown reports.
How It Works
Deep Research uses an asynchronous workflow:
Start research — Your assignment provides a research topic and instructions. Deep Research kicks off an autonomous investigation.
Research in progress — The AI agent explores the topic comprehensively, gathering and synthesizing information from multiple sources. This can take anywhere from a few minutes to up to approximately 55 minutes for complex topics.
Get results — Once complete, the research output is saved as a markdown file in your workspace (
/workspace/deep_research/) and returned to your assignment.
Available Tools
Deep Research exposes two tools to your assignments:
start_research— Initiates a new research task. Accepts a topic and detailed instructions (up to 4,096 characters). Returns a research ID for tracking.get_results— Retrieves the results of a previously started research task using its research ID. Polls automatically until the research completes.
