Human in the Loop
What is the Human in the Loop Connection?
The Human in the Loop (HITL) connection is a system-managed tool that's automatically available for all your Duvo assignments. You don't need to connect or configure it—it's ready to use out of the box.
What Can It Do?
HITL enables your assignments to request human assistance when they need clarification or approval for critical decisions. This ensures you stay in control of important actions while still benefiting from automation.
Why This Matters
Not every decision should be fully automated. For high-stakes actions—like approving large purchases, sending important communications, or making judgment calls—you want human oversight. HITL gives you the perfect balance: assignments handle the repetitive work, but pause for your input when it matters most.
When to Use It
Use HITL when your assignment needs to:
Get approval for high-value actions: Review purchase orders, contracts, or financial transactions before execution
Verify critical decisions: Confirm choices that could have significant business impact
Handle edge cases: Ask for guidance when encountering situations outside normal parameters
Review before sending: Check emails, messages, or communications before they go to customers or stakeholders
Clarify ambiguous situations: Get human judgment when the assignment encounters unclear data or conflicting information
How It Works
When your assignment reaches a Human in the Loop checkpoint, it pauses execution and presents you with the relevant information and a request for approval or input.
During live jobs: The HITL prompt appears directly in the job window's session log. The assignment stops and waits for you to review the information and tell it how to proceed through the run-time prompt.
For scheduled jobs: HITL requests appear in your Activity Inbox, where you can review and respond to all pending approvals in one place.
Key Benefits
Stay in control: Maintain oversight over critical decisions without slowing down routine automation
Reduce risk: Ensure important actions are reviewed before execution, preventing costly mistakes
Flexible oversight: Define exactly where you want human involvement and where automation can run freely
Built-in governance: Create natural approval processes and audit trails for sensitive operations
Peace of mind: Automate confidently knowing you'll review what matters most
HITL is essential for responsible automation, giving you the confidence to automate more workflows while maintaining appropriate oversight and control.
